Sweet Soul Music

A friend brought me these flowers when she came for dinner last week. They came from her own yard and they are beautiful.
I painted this the next morning after the dinner and plan to paint some more versions of this same vase. Maybe it will end up as many as Monet's haystack so!

Group Policy

Zinnias are one of the flower types that fascinate me. It is not easy for me to paint the layers of petals and make them become a solid form. For some reason I keep coming back for more punishment willingly.

Free Spirit

These flowers seem ready to escape the picture plane if possible. I tried to show the exuberance the blooms- a free spirit.

Borrowed Light

This set up has light coming from more than one direction so it was a little tricky to paint . It is from one of the many photos I have of lilacs from when I lived in Pennsylvania. But I think it was worth it to try.

Climbing Garden

I have a thing for white fences, they are the perfect backdrop for the beautiful garden colors.

Ribbon Cutting

My husband gave me these flowers. They lasted a very long time and I was able to paint them more than once. The ribbon added just the right touch to the vase!

This is a photo I took yesterday on an early morning walk. I am not painting this week but I am
Always painting in my head. I look forward to trying to paint this when I get back home. Stay tuned for final painting!

Call Waiting

I have been admiring high key paintings lately; those with a good amount of light colors. Of course those light colors have to be balanced with some mid and dark values to be successful. A balancing act like juggling multiple telephone calls; thank goodness for call waiting.
