About Color

Sometime it is all about the color. This painting does have a good deal of neutral tones but the pinks and purples are the star

Illusion

I haven't posted this week because Blogpress wouldn't allow me to post photos. Apparently they fixed the problem because it finally works. This type of small painting has become a favorite of mine. I like the different shapes that come together like a puzzle connected with dark values.

Manor Blooms

This us from a photo I think is from a day spent at a place called Springton Manor in Pennsylvania. I went with my painting group when I lived there and we painted en plein air and took photos. When I finish a painting I always have a sense of accomplishing something.
I am not a compulsive housekeeper at all but in the last week I have managed to clean my ovens and reorganize my clothing drawers. I can now be at peace if I had to enter the hospital knowing I wouldn't mind someone coming to pick up clothes for me. Kind of like moms always saying wear nice underwear just in case!

Amethyst Flowers

The colors in this painting are really exciting to me. I would like to abstract it so another painting would just be about color.
Today we booked a river cruise trip in Germany for late August and early September. We also will stay a few days in Amsterdam and Paris.we have been to Paris but didn't get to spend as much time there as I would have liked to. I also want to walk on the Champs-Elysee and not trip and fall like I did last time. A do over!

The Vase

My husband brought me flowers last week for no reason- the best kind to get! I put them in a vase that I bought years ago. The vase has an interesting pattern of mosaic tiles.I wasn't quite sure how to approach painting it but as alway the best rule is to just paint what you see. I think it worked.

Cool White

This was a tough one. It seemed so simple to start with but I ended up starting over a few times. I wanted to give it some life and keep the colors interesting. The most complicated pattern was in the white flowers. I think I finally got it right!

Moonlight Porch

I was painting this from my photo and for some reason started going toward cool so it turned out more like a moonlit view than sunny. I imagine that a girl was out here sitting on the settee with her boyfriend. Her father eventually flicked the porch light off and on signaling time for said boy friend's departure.
