Early Spring Pot

I have some hyacinths blooming this year. I like that they are the first to show up in early spring. This pot is quite subtle in its colors. It somehow invites the viewer to stay a little longer.

Relative Tulips

These tulips are similar colors although with lighting they appear lighter or darker accordingly. That is a good thing because they would be pretty boring if they were the same.

Geranium Planter

I have mostly painted red geraniums but these pink blooms were so pretty that I wanted to paint them. They do well in the heat of summer here in Memphis. If they make until August they will last until October. They are almost like pets- you can't go out of town without arranging for someone to water the plants.

Suns and Roses

Sorry, I couldn't help myself in naming this painting. The title just popped in my head. I can't say that I was a big fan of the band but seemed appropriate for this . It is hard to name so many paintings so a little humor is a welcome thing.

Lazy Susan

I titled this Lazy Susan because once my husband commented on a field of Black-eyed Susans "Look at all those Lazy Susans". I never let him live that one down!

Sun Room

I tend to want to paint close ups of a scene rather than a wide panoramic view. This is such an example, a corner of the room. If painting a picture of a house I would paint part of the porch or a window. Maybe this comes from being near sighted my whole life!

Back of the Garden

I have been interested in painting gardens lately. I like the larger gardens but any small area is worthy of interest. I look for color and texture to qualify as something I would like to paint.
Now that spring is approaching I hope to find more to paint. If you see any that are interesting send me a photo!

Lace Curtain

Windows fascinate me. I especially like the ones on old buildings, here and in Europe. We are planning a trip to Boston in June. I am sure I will find many there to take photos of.

Three on a Bench

This painting is a little larger than my usual daily painting; 12x16. This view of geraniums seemed to call for a larger canvas. Maybe the flowers have delusions of grandeur? I know some people like that. Ha

Summer Gate

I love English Gardens, cottage gardens, actually any garden.I don't have the actual temperament and patience to have one of them so I will just paint them.My father had a green thumb but apparently I did not inherit this trait.

Four Rosess

Since I have been painting almost every day for over a year, I find myself painting without paints during the oddest times. For example, we were at an exciting U of Memphis basketball game on Saturday and I found myself thinking about the painting I was working on that morning. I was seeing the palette in my mind and thinking of changing a color. I even crop scenes along the highway as we drive. No one knows I am a painter doing these secret musings until they see the stains on my hands and clothes!

Variety

I liked the variety of colors in the same flowers. My favorite thing to paint are negative spaces; all the small interesting shapes in between the main shapes.

Lovely Bouquet

We drove down to Pensacola, Florida a few days ago. Our daughter-in-law is in the hospital and we are helping out with grandchildren. Knowing I would be in withdrawal from not painting, I brought my watercolor paints with me. I painted this in the car using a reference photo stored on my iPad. I had a bottle of water, a small palette and painted on a clipboard. It certainly made the trip pass more quickly!

Lavender Shadows

The flowers in this painting are beautiful but the thing I like most are the shadows cast by the jars.
