Terra Cotta Party

I can't describe the pleasure I get when I paint. I hope everyone has a chance to do something they love. I have been lucky to do something related to art my whole life; although I always saw myself walking around a hospital with a white coat and clipboard. Too many E.R episodes watched.

Tuscan Field

I just finished this large (30x40) painting as a commission. I am always a little nervous doing this- hoping I can produce the vision the buyer expected. She was very pleased with it so maybe she won't hide it under the bed until I come visit!

April Snowball

I picked some blooms from the snowball bush in my yard and added some tulips and periwinkle to make this bouquet. A fun morning of painting!

Red Enough

It seems I haven't been posting much! I have been busy doing some commissions and busy with family. My love for tulips only grows. I have some that are blooming with 4 blooms on one stem. I must remember to buy more of those kind of bulbs in the fall; they are gorgeous.

Sun and Shadows Porch

This is from a photo taken on a late afternoon. The shadows on the porch and window add a lot of interest to the painting. I like that now the days are getting longer so porch time is a lot more likely to happen.

Through the Glass

I used to be intimidated by painting glass. I usually avoided putting flowers in a clear vase, choosing instead a pottery type vase. I finally just jumped right in and painted the glass over and over again. The key was to paint the shapes that I see and it all falls into place. Of course it only took me 40 years to get to that place.apparently I am a late bloomer!

Deep in the Garden

I like the mysterious path that leads into the garden. What lurks there?

Roses on the Fence

This is another of my garden paintings. It is such a pleasure to paint all of the flowers with the white of the fence. Kind of like a new box of crayons where you get to use all of the crayons!
