Primrose

Primrose are plants hat I usually see as a potted plants. I think I like them so much because they are usually one of the first to show up in spring. I try to buy just one pot but always end up with 4 or 5. ( watercolor, 11x15)

Adirondack

This scene evokes memories of summers spent at a relative's house in the south. Iced tea for dinner and lightning bugs caught in mason jars to be used as night lights.

Hanging Laundry

All over Italy this is a common scene. We are so sophisticated here in the U.S that no one ever sees our laundry hanging outside as our grandmothers did. It is nice that we have the convenience of washers and dryers but maybe we are missing something. I love the shadows cast from the clothes.

Savannah Marsh

On a recent visit to Savannah we drove out to Tybee Island. I had always wanted to see the island. The timing was good because March is still a little chilly for crowds as I can imagine what it is like in the summer. The parking tickets are very freely given,I hear. The marshes are on either side of the road on the way out there. Some of my photos were taken as we drove by.

Sunflowers

Yet another sunflower painting. My sister had an old milk container that had been painted. It really complements the bright yellows of the sunflowers.

Azalea Ribbon

Azaleas aren't usually used as cut flowers or as an indoor plant but this basket was so eye catching I just had to paint it. (11x15) watercolor

Misty Morning

We are attending a wedding in Athens, Georgia. The daughter of a childhood friend is getting married tonight and it is a wonderful celebration of laughter and friendship and the beginning of a new chapter. I have not been painting this week but am posting a painting I finished a while ago. It is a painting of the Northwest coast. It does a lot to lower my blood pressure to look at this scene.

TUSCAN VINEYARD

We saw a lot of scenes like this when visiting Italy. There were many small vineyards scattered around the countryside.

Blue Door

BLUE DOOR (12x12)

I like to paint pictures of doors and stairs. Maybe for the possibility of what might be waiting for you behind the door!

CUP AND POMS

CUP AND POMS (8x8)
This is a still life with pomegranates. I like the shapes and colors of this unusual fruit. I recently had a "light box" made for my still life set ups that makes it much easier to see the shadows and highlights. Add that to my new cushiony mat for my feet and I am good to go!
