Be The Light
Painting the background of a painting is often the hardest thing to do.One solution I have found is to make the subject matter fill up as much space as possible. This makes less space in the background to worry about! In this painting I just repeated a lot of the colors of the flowers along with a neutral to make the painting pop.
I love to paint this kind of bright splashy colorful painting. It reminds me of a box of candy with all of the reds and pinks; a kid’s version of heaven. Even though the colors are quite similar I had to show some contrast by changing the values of the reds and also by cooling the temperatures. It was a delicious exercise!
