Joy Ride

Of course here is another hydrangea. This one is flying solo. They are strong enough to stand alone. Some flowers need the company of others. Hydrangeas are usually clustered with family members so a chance to get out and enjoy some freedom is a joy ride.

Frames

I don't always see what happens to my paintings when they leave my house.A customer sent this picture of two 8x8 paintings on panels. She found these simple black frames at Walmart online! They were very inexpensive and came with a mat and glass, which she didn't use.
I think they work perfectly with the paintings, especially when grouping multiple paintings.

New Direction

i have been mostly  on gessoboard panels the past few years. Lately I have been trying stretched canvas for some paintings.  Have enjoyed doing them and like the fact that they are ready to hang without framing. I still do the panels but realized change is good.Although I don't plan on takng the dramatic direction of Picasso; it is never good to stay the same too long!

Star Search

I had some friends who go all the way back to 5th grade come in town for a long weekend this past Thursday. We had a great time on Beale Street, loved the tackiness of Graceland and visited Oxford, MS. I painted this acrylic painting before They came. It is larger than my usual size that I paint. I have been experimenting with texture and I thoroughly enjoyed painting this one.It is 30x30 inches on stretched canvas.

PROXY

I have a thing for blue and white vases. They make everything that is put in them look good.White flowers are especially enhancd by the piece of pottery;they  are given an Asian flair. If I collected anything, this would be what I would collect.

Simple Plan

sometimes subtle color is effective. I love brightly colored flowers but there a lot of them with delicate soft colors that are beautiful.sometimes less is more in life as well as nature.

Spring Premiere

It is a wonderful feeling to go into a garden center this time of the year. The beautiful colors and lovely scents are there to enjoy. The only stressful part of this is deciding which flowers to purchase; we only have so much money , space and time to plant.

Iris Glow

Everywhere I  look I see iris bloomng. Right now I have dark purple blooming but I also have a few light purple and some delicious peach colored. I just love the shape of the petals and the variety of colors. On each stem are multiple blooms so a grouping of iris makes a big impact. What a wonderful time of year.

Proud Garden

The tulips and daffodils we planted (actually my husband did)have been blooming these past few weeks. The purple iris have appeared also. I can't spend all my tme outside so I have cut a number of flowers to bring inside. I have used this vase before in some other paintings, it is one of my favorites. I really hate to see them die. The worst was a few years ago when I had to go out of town for a week during the peak bloomng time. I guess I could get a flower cam.

SPECIALTY

Yellow is one of those light colors that can have many looks. I really like a soft buttery yellow, like an expensive wool sweater. I think I captured that yellow in this flower painting. This would be called a high key painting due to the fact that there aren't many darks in the painting. As always, a pleasure to paint.
