i did this painting as a video on Instagram. Or rather the beginning of it----I went back and completed it after the video. It was fun to try and do it quickly.I could do hydrangeas with my eyes closed. I have painted them so much, always striving to do better.

Window
Window 30x40
I like to paint intimate scenes like this one I painted with Acrylics. It gives a little slice of life with a little mystery thrown in.

Conversation
I think the colors of pansies are breathtaking.Nature knows how to combine colors for maximum effect, no editing by humans necessary. I painted this with acrylics. Acrylics handle a little differently than oils but I enjoy using them.

Dream About It
This is one of my new larger paintings. It is painted on a 30x30 stretched canvas. I have really been enjoying using acrylics on this format. I seem to go a little more graphic with my design when painting like this. The colors seemed to dictate what was happening in this painting. I like the crisp whites- I can almost feel the smooth texture of them.

Dowager
Sometimes a painting names itself. When I finished this , I was reminded of an English titled dowager in the 1940's. I imagined her sitting in a formal living room pouring tea to some intimidated guests. Crumpets, anyone?

Close Up
I used to take some photos with a macro lens on an SLR camera. It afforded the perfect closeups of flowers. I was lucky to take a picture of a bee landing on a flower once. With all the exceptional apps available now, all I need to do is zoom in.This is a closeup of a complex scene; many blooms of daffodils and other flowers. The darks do their job of making all the flowers pop.

Zoom In
One thing you can count on in the south is the abundance of azaleas. It is the sure sign of spring from Mobile to the upper south. They love shade and are at home nestled beneath trees everywhere you look. This path probably leads to even more!

The Ballet
This painting's name came to me after I finished. I was reminded of a ballerina floating across a small stage, feet barely touching the ground.
This is my first post since leaving for the beach last week.It was good to take a break but now I am ready to get backto painting- I have a lot of ideas I want to try out. Stay tuned!
