I have painted several views of the water on the golf course nearby. This is one from a photo taken in the early morning while the moon was still in the sky. We walked at this time because the summer heat is better handled as early as possible. The only problem is dodging the geese "deposits"on the cart path in the dark! I have heard they produce a pound a day.

Rose Parade
BUSINESS CASUAL
These geraniums received the notice before The Geranium Convention that the attire would be business casual. As usual it was hard to decide what to wear but they all got together and came up with this idea. Do you approve?

Best Baskets
I love baskets! My father learned how to make split oak baskets from an old man out in the country. He even made a contraption to hand split the pieces of wood that he cut. After soakng, the splits were woven into baskets. He did this until the arthritis in hs hands made it too difficult to do anymore. Those baskets along with my mother's quilts are first on my list to save in case of a house fire!

DUTCH WiNDOW
We spent a few days in Amsterdam after a Rhine River cruise last September. The architecture in the city is wonderful. All of the buildings are quite unique. The fact that many of them lean forward and to either side of straight only adds to their charm. The city's inhabitants are also unique in the fact that EVERYONE rides a bicycle everywhere even in the cold winter. There are parking garages filled with bicycles instead of cars.Given the quirkiness, who minds a crooked window?

Wait Time
I thought this bouquet of flowers was appropriate for the end of Spring Break and Easter. The colors remind me of dyed eggs and candy. I remember the excitement of Easter morning
. We lived in Northern Maine when I was 5 until I was 10. Since there was always snow on the ground at Easter, we had our rgg hunts indoors.Of course they were always real eggs that long ago. Invariably there was always one that was left behind that made itself known by the smell!

Real Time
This is another acrylic painting.I am learning more and more about this knd of paint. It is possible to achieve subtle colors even though it is not oil. I enjoyed putting immediate layers on top of other layers quickly because the paint dries quickly..I am glad I have the opportunity to switch back and forth from oil to acrylic.

TIED UP
I chose some of my favorite colors for this painting. There is somethng about these shades of blue and purple that is exciting to me. There is a lttle twist on the mason jar theme by having the jar tied with raffia.

Autumn Moon
this painting of a pond in Autumn.I approach landscapes the same way as a floral; it is all about the shapes and values.I always make sure there are at least 3 values in a painting- light, medium and dark.It is important to make sure the values aren't equal in a painting. In some paintings the dark value is dominant ; there is no right choice. It is all in the artist's hand to decide.

Sue's Window
This is a painting that I did after I went to a Carol Marine workshop in Texas. The workshop venue was a wonderful place; the studio was filled with interesting things to paint. I saw these objects in a window and it made a wonderful composition for a painting.

Proud Meadow
This painting was painted with acrylic paints. I will be attending a Danny Broadway acrylic painting workshop in Memphis in April and I wanted a little practice. I transitioned from watercolor to oils a few years ago. I will continue to make oils my primary medium but am enjoying the acrylics. The acrylic paints have vastly improved since I used them in the 70's. Back then the colors were more garish and "plastic" looking. Now it is often hard to tell them from oils. Painting is just painting, no matter what the medium is.

Basket of Lilacs
The season for lilac blooms will be here in a few months. To clarify; I won't see them since I am now living in the south where the temps are not conducive to grow them. I like living here; glad of mild winters but miss the beautiful fragrant flowers. I guess we can't have it all!

Quiet Sun
I have been painting some paintings on thick stretched canvas. I like painting thes because they do not require a frame.it takes a little time to get used to the surface; it tends to,"give" a little compared to the hard surface of the panel. The sides of the canvas are painted black to mimic a frame without the heaviness.

Truest Blue
I have painted hydrangeas many times. These are no different than some others except for the blue background. The main focus is really all about the glass vase.It is always fun to pick out the shapes, shadows and highlights that magically turn into glass. A fun puzzle!

Peace Time
My daffodils are almost ready to bloom and I am looking forward to their appearance. They will appear in clusters, moving with the wind. The are always a little hard to photograph when they are still in the ground because they are never turned exactly the right way. If I was willing to lie down on the ground I could take a better picture. The problem is not getting down there; but getting back up with dignity. This painting is meant to suggest their movement.
